Extra-curriculum

In implementing our philosophy towards providing multi exposure to a child’s learning, we also make available certain activities which may be core or elected as optional programs.

English and Chinese Speech & Drama
Speech and Drama program develops confidence in speaking and in presentation skill. It helps the child understands his/her body language and expressions, and how to use them appropriately. It develops critical analysis and skills in positive expressions. Raffles House has both English and Chinese Speech & Drama programs. In some centres, especially at the Nursery and Kindergarten levels, English Speech & Drama are core subjects.

Music & Movement
Children learn to channel aggression, relief tension and express
themselves through music and dance, while learning new skill in rhythm,
balance, grace and co-ordination. It also develops kinesthetic and cultural
awareness. Music and musical appreciation plays an important role in
the cognitive development as well as builds an initial foundation towards
exploring musical gifting for the child.

Gymnastics
This is designed to meet the children's physical development needs,
which in turn affects the development of other domains. Children need
to be physically fit, and that means possessing endurance, muscular strength,
flexibility and good health. They need to learn skills in locomotion,
dynamic and static balance. They will also develop healthy body and space
perception, rhythm and temporal awareness, rebound and air borne activities,
projectile management and other manipulative motor skills.

Abacus
Abacus is an optional program that enhances the children’s mental
arithmetic skills.
It has been found to be effective in training mental
analytical skills.

The program is offered at the Kindergarten levels.

Dance

Some centres include dance programs such as Hip Hop, Ballet, Jazz
and various dance styles. Dance promotes agility,
body movement,
flexibility and confidence in self-expression.
